Board Appointment - Synergy North Board of Directors
Council appointed John Guerard to serve on the Synergy North Board of Directors for the remainder of a 3-year term ending April 30, 2027. The vote was unanimous with 12 councillors in favor.
WITH RESPECT to the recruitment of one individual to serve as a Director on the Synergy North Board, we recommend that the following be appointed: John Guerard be appointed for the remainder of a 3-year term, expiring April 30, 2027, or until such time as a replacement has been appointed. Establishment of Committee of the Whole - Closed Session - October
Council scheduled a closed meeting for October 7, 2025 to discuss confidential matters including personnel issues, potential land deals, legal advice, and negotiation strategies.
THAT a Committee of the Whole – Closed Session meeting be scheduled for Tuesday, October 7, 2025 at 4:30 p.m. in order to receive information pursuant to the Municipal Act (Section 239 (2)) relative to: (b) personal matters about an identifiable individual, including municipal or local board employees; (c) a proposed or pending acquisition or disposition of land by the municipality or local board; (f) advice that is subject to solicitor-client privilege, including communications necessary for that purpose; (k) a position, plan, procedure, criteria or instruction to be applied to any negotiations carried on or to be carried on by or on behalf of the municipality or local board; and (k) a position, plan, procedure, criteria or instruction to be applied to any negotiations carried on or to be carried on by or on behalf of the municipality or local board. Council voted to cancel the previous decision approving the Hillyard Site (next to 8th Avenue) as the location for the Temporary Shelter Village. The motion passed 8-4, meaning council is rejecting this site and will need to reconsider other options.
WITH RESPECT to Report 239-2025 Report Back - Temporary Shelter Village Initiative - Alternate Locations, which directed that the approved site for the Temporary Shelter Village Initiative be the Hillyard Site, next to 8th Avenue, we recommend that the full of the resolution be rescinded in its entirety.
