Council appointed a different councillor to serve as Acting Mayor for each month from December 2022 through November 2023, ensuring mayoral coverage when the Mayor is absent.

WITH RESPECT to Report 202-2022 (City Manager’s Office - Office of the City Clerk), and pursuant to Section 242 of the Municipal Act, 2001, we recommend that the following Members of Council be appointed Acting Mayor, in the Mayor’s absence, for the month indicated opposite their name: December 2022 Councillor Kristen Oliver January 2023 Councillor Trevor Giertuga February 2023 Councillor Michael Zussino March 2023 Councillor Mark Bentz April 2023 Councillor Brian Hamilton May 2023 Councillor Andrew Foulds June 2023 Councillor Kasey Etreni July 2023 Councillor Greg Johnsen August 2023 Councillor Rajni Agarwal September 2023 Councillor Shelby Ch’ng October 2023 Councillor Albert Aiello November 2023 Councillor Dominic Pasqualino

Procedural

#2 CARRIED Council approved a new by-law that establishes the process for appointing Acting Mayors when the Mayor is unavailable. This formalizes the procedure for temporary mayoral leadership.
