Confirmation of Agenda
Council confirmed the agenda for the June 24, 2024 meeting, including any additional items and new business that were added.
WITH RESPECT to the June 24, 2024 City Council, we recommend that the agenda as printed, including any additional information and new business, be confirmed.
Council rejected a proposal to declare three small parkette properties (on Holly Crescent, Thistle Crescent, and Thornloe Drive) as surplus city land available for sale or disposal. The motion would have sent these properties to administration for processing and required public notice.
WITH RESPECT to the Memorandum from Councillor Brian Hamilton dated June 14, 2024 and relative to the minutes of Committee of the Whole June 3, 2024 and Report 2024CLS.031 (Realty Services) we recommend that the following parkette properties; 724 Holly Cresent, 628 Thistle Cresent, and Part of 661 Thornloe Drive be referred to Administration to add to the list of properties recommended for surplus
- Administration provide notice to the public as per policy with respect to the surplus of these properties
- be brought forward for ratification at the July 22, 2024 City Council meeting
- any necessary by-laws be presented to Council for ratification.
Council is postponing a decision to sell two vacant city-owned properties at 172 and 168 Street until January 13, 2025. The decision will be revisited then, and any necessary legal documents will be presented to council for approval.
WITH RESPECT to the Memorandum from Councillor Michael Zussino dated June 20, 2024, and the Committee of the Whole minutes from June 3, 2024 relating to Surplus Real Properties, we recommend that the decision to surplus the vacant property, municipally know as 172 and 168 Street, be deferred to January 13, 2025: AND THAT this item be added to the outstanding list
- any necessary by-laws be presented to Council for ratification.
Ratifying Resolution
Council approved four key appointments and one landscaping services contract: appointments to the Community Economic Development Commission, a new City Manager, a new Fire Chief, and awarded a landscape architectural services contract for the Waterfront Festival Area.
THAT the following ratifying resolutions be introduced, read, dealt with individually: 1. Committee and Board Appointments - Community Economic Development Commission; 2. Report 235-2024-Infrastructure, Development & Operations-Engineering & Operations - Landscape Architectural Services Award Waterfront Festival Area; 3. Appointment of City Manager; 4. Appointment of Chief of Fire.
